All’s fair in Love and Warr: De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill by Erich Mendelsohn-

Designed in 1933, Erich Mendelsohn fought off 230 competitors to win the De La Warr Pavilion commission. Situated in Bexhill near Hastings on the south coast, the pavilion is one of the U.K’s most important modern buildings. The most notable part of the design for me is the glass enclosed spiral staircase on the south side of the building that faces out to sea. The De La Warr pavilion still functions today as an arts venue with gallery and auditorium.
